    1. Hi, our child would be coming into the school from a state school and hasn't had the opportunity to try many team sports. How do you manage to encourage and help children such as ours to catch up?

      1. Hello, across all our sports we provide a clear and supportive curriculum which allows all to become comfortable with what they are doing. Skill development and understanding go hand in hand in all areas. We usually offer a pre-season programme in our major sports which enables the boys/girls to potentially meet for the first time (Autumn term) and socially integrate whilst also getting a taste of the sport they will be involved with. The inter form competition gives them a platform to represent their form which in turn helps drive confidence. There are further pointers in the video which helps describe in many ways the journey that they take.

      2. I just wondered how many hours a week the pupils do of games and PE please in Year 7 within the school day? Thank you

        Posted by Guest427, 17/10/2020 at 09:24

        1. One games session a week of 2 hours with an after school training session of an hour and a half which is also supplemented by a lunchtime and after school S&C sessions. There is also one PE lesson every 2 weeks that focuses on invasion games, movement and wall games (badminton, tennis, volleyball...).

        2. Hi - great set of sports on offer. We see from the brochure that there is also a football team. Please how does football fit within the sports programme?

          Posted by Guest206, 17/10/2020 at 09:26

          1. The school fields a 1st and 2nd XI at the sixth form level across two terms, this is only an option for yr 11, 12 and 13 games only. Recreational football is available as a lunchtime club lower down the school.

          2. Hello, is there a school football team?

            Posted by Guest412, 17/10/2020 at 09:29

            1. Yes, in the sixth form we field a 1st and 2nd XI. Many of our pupils play for teams outside of school which they fit around representing the school teams.

            2. Can the girls play hard ball in Y7. We have a daughter who is keen to continue her hard ball training.

              Posted by GuestK504, 17/10/2020 at 09:32

              1. The cricket curriculum has both aspects, in terms of a hard and soft ball option. The girls can play alongside the boys, which in turn helps provide stretch in their development. During the Spring term there is an invitational training programme (before school) whereby we use our indoor nets and sports hall to continue their skill development (batting/bowling/fielding/wicket keeping), leading into the summer term.

              2. can girls play rugby?

                Posted by GuestK551, 17/10/2020 at 09:34

                1. We would always look to support this aspiration and provide opportunities to play during a lunchtime club where there is sufficient interest. Our focus for the girls are our major sports of hockey, netball and cricket (which is also supplemented by tennis in the summer term).

                2. Hi, our daughter really enjoys cricket. Is it part of the curriculum for girls and do they play hard ball?

                  Posted by Guest389, 17/10/2020 at 09:52

                  1. Good morning. Yes the girls play cricket during the Summer Term. They can play hard ball and also play with the boys as mixed teams.

Posted by Ms L Young, 17/10/2020 at 09:59

                    1. That's great to hear. Girls have played cricket for the last 5 years where we have moved away from rounders to a full cricket programme for girls. Many of our talented players play with the boys in the age group teams throughout the school and do play hardball.

Posted by Mr S Lilley, 17/10/2020 at 09:59

                      1. Good Morning - it is part of the curriculum, we have a full cricket programme for the girls, which includes hard ball practice and matches as well as softball for the more inexperienced. We also have some girls who play and train in boys teams. In the next few years my hope is that we move away from girls and boys cricket and have a hard and soft ball programme, where both girls and boys can play together depending on their choice. 2. Roughly what proportion of pupils represent the school at fixtures etc.?

                            Posted by GuestK596, 17/10/2020 at 10:39

                            1. Good morning. We field 4 teams (approx. 40 pupils) most weekends for the girls and boys in Years 7 and 8 in Hockey and netball. The boys Rugby field A-C teams most weekends as well. In year 9 and 10 there is an A and B team. The seniors field 1st - 4th team in Hockey and even up to 6 teams in Netball.

Posted by Ms L Young, 17/10/2020 at 10:42

                              1. In year 7 and 8 our aim is for ALL pupils to represent the school regardless of experience or ability.

                            2. I have heard that there is rugby played in the autumn and spring terms, but is it played in the summer term?

                              Posted by GuestK540, 17/10/2020 at 10:47

                              1. There is conditioning in the Summer term which leads into pre-season (and touring in certain years) at the start of the Autumn term.

                              2. Our child is a swimmer for Team Bath AS. How does this integrate with your curriculum and timetable for training?

                                Posted by Guest275, 17/10/2020 at 10:50

                                1. We have a few children who train for Team Bath AS as well, training before and after school on various days every week. We don't offer swimming as part of our curriculum (we don't have a pool) but we do have a swimming team who attend the Bristol Schools Swimming competition and we also compete in the Bath schools Biathlon.

                                  1. We offer Strength and Conditioning support for these pupils as well.
