Good evening. Do I need to have studied GCSE PE to do A-Level?
Posted by Open Day guest, 16/10/2020 at 17:42
Hello, although it is not essential it is preferable. The GCSE course naturally flows into the A level course and provides a strong foundation on which to build.

OK thanks

Hello, is football an option for a winter sport for boys and can they do tennis rather than cricket in the summer?
Posted by Guest197, 16/10/2020 at 18:16
Football is an option in both the Autumn and Spring term, with the opportunity to play school fixtures on a Thursday afternoon. There are two teams, so lots of opportunities to play. In the summer term, pupils can opt to play tennis, again with mid-week fixture options.

My daughter is a high performing track and field athlete, currently ranked in the Top 20 in the UK in Long Jump, Triple Jump and 100m. She has competed at a National level in athletics, along with also representing Somerset in cricket and playing in the U16 A Team for Team Bath Netball. Does KES enter teams, or individual athletes into regional or national athletics competitions? What support and provisions are in place for athletics? In addition does KES run a girls/womens cricket team?

Hello, what a talented daughter you have! I hope we can help. We enter individual athletes into national events in athletics including activities such as cross country and entry into English Schools competition, where we have had numerous athletes compete. Our conditioning programme enables our very best athletes to move to the next level, dovetailing their individual requirements/direction with a training programme at school, with access to a fitness suite and a qualified coach. As a school we have strong links with local 'providers' such as Bath CC, Team Bath netball and Bath Buccs hockey to name but a few! We regularly use the Bath CC indoor facilities that compliment our indoor and outdoor cricket nets. We have a girls 1st XI cricket team and a cricket programme that reflects a 'soft' and 'hard' ball approach, challenging our talented girls to play at a level that stretches them wherever possible and playing/training alongside boys. Our innovative staffing structure (Specialist Sport coaches in hockey, netball and cricket) enable one on one individual development to take place, making time during the timetabled week. Please do email me if you require any further information; d.hacker@kesbath.com

Is there a Psychology in Sport module in the course as I am very interested in this aspect
Posted by Guest201, 16/10/2020 at 19:45
Good evening, yes there is a psychology module. In year 1 it is skill acquisition, focussing on the development and learning of skills alongside information processing. The second year course flows naturally onto the sport psychology module - the performer in action and the concepts and theories linked to this. It is a really interesting and engaging course that offers students a wide variety of content, relevant to the sport performer.
